FAQ

Questions, answered.

The most common questions from new clients. Still missing something? Send me a note.

Booking

How far in advance should I book a newborn session?
Newborn sessions book three to six weeks ahead. Reach out during your second trimester to reserve a window around your due date. I hold the spot on my calendar and confirm once your baby arrives.
When is the best time for newborn photos?
Between five and fourteen days old. Baby still curls naturally, sleeps deeply, and poses well. After two weeks, sessions are still beautiful but the look is different.
How far ahead should I book a cake smash or family session?
Two to four weeks is plenty for cake smash, family, and maternity. Holiday slots book faster.

Session day

How long does a newborn session take?
Plan for two to three hours. That covers feeding breaks, outfit changes, and sibling or parent shots. I don't rush. Your baby sets the pace.
Do I need to bring outfits or props?
The studio provides wraps, bonnets, swaddles, backdrops, and cake-smash outfits. Family and maternity clients receive a styling guide when they book.
Do you offer in-home sessions?
Sessions happen in my Pikesville studio. In-home is available for an additional fee in limited cases. The studio is heated, private, and stocked with everything a newborn session needs.

Gallery delivery

When will I see my gallery?
Your private online gallery is ready in two to three weeks. Cake smash and family sessions often deliver closer to two weeks.
Can I order prints and wall art?
Yes. The gallery includes museum-quality print options and album design. I also ship digital files. Most clients choose a mix.

Policies & location

Where is the studio?
My photography studio is located in the Pikesville area of Baltimore, MD, just about a 4 minutes drive off the 695. From Columbia, take US-29 N to I-70 E, then I-695 N to exit 22, and parking is out front.
What's your cancellation policy?
Life with babies is unpredictable. Cancellations and reschedules are handled individually with no penalty for genuine emergencies. I'll send the details when you book.
Do you include siblings and parents in the sessions?
Yes, I absolutely encourage you to participate in the photoshoot with your precious newborn. We try our best to capture great sibling shots, but it will depend on the siblings' cooperation, especially when dealing with toddler siblings. I do have some magic tricks that usually work to get everyone's cooperation.
Do I get to choose the props and colors?
You absolutely get to select the props and colors that we will use in the photoshoot. After all, we want the session to fit your style best, so we customize the session to your liking.
Are all the poses safe for the baby?
Safety is our number one priority. All poses done are safe, and we will not compromise safety for anything.
What do we wear to the session?
In general, solid colors are best, but we discuss this all in our one on one consultation and help you choose clothing that is more comfortable for you.
How old should baby be for a sitter session?
Six to nine months is the best time for this session, but the exact time will depend on the development of each child. We like to get the babies in for this session just after they have reached their sitting milestone, hence the name.
What if my baby is afraid of strangers?
We have had many babies who are afraid of strangers, and somehow they have beautiful photos sitting in their homes. I have lots of tips and tricks to get baby to warm up, and usually they work pretty well.
Can parents be in the pre-cake smash pictures?
Yes, we absolutely love when parents join the pictures and get in on the fun.
Anything we should know prior to the cake smash photoshoot?
Please do not have your child eat baby carrots for breakfast the day of their photoshoot, the camera is so sensitive and will pick up the orange on your toddlers skin even if their face appears to be clean to the human eye. A nice bath the night before the session would be a great idea so everyone is all fresh and clean for the photoshoot.
